Our team comprises professionals with varied experience in the investment and finance world who together analyze asset classes, managers and strategies from myriad angles. Each of our directors qualifications extends across most asset classes because we value the ability to weigh options across asset classes and understand relative risk-return trade-offs. Nevertheless, the wide breadth of opportunities has dictated a degree of specialization, with expertise in global equities, hedge fund investing, private equity, and natural resources.

Joel R. Mangham Principal
Joel has over 20 years of experience in investment management, having started his career with Cambridge Associates prior to founding Mangham Associates. Joel has deep experience working with foundation boards and investment committees to integrate the investment process into the firms mission and operations. Currently, his efforts are devoted to asset allocation, structuring effective decision-making processes within policy, and developing real asset exposures through natural resource investments.

Experience: Consultant, Cambridge Associates; Senior Consultant, Gemini Consulting, working with Monsanto Corporation, Shell Oil Company and Petroleum Authority of Thailand.

James N. Sheffield, CFA Principal
Jim comes to investment management after 15 years of experience in emerging markets investment banking and as a corporate financier working for international growth companies. Jim has particular expertise in manager analysis, portfolio modeling and international markets. Jims current efforts are focused on developing an entity-wide asset allocation model, researching hedge/alternative managers and analyzing opportunities in distressed investing and fixed income.
M.S. in International Business, University of South Carolina; B.S. in Finance, Metropolitan State College, Denver. Experience: Senior Investment/Merchant Banker with a London-based subsidiary of HSBC Group; Independent Corporate Financier, Standard & Poors.

Natalie C. Smith, CFA Director, COO and CCO
Natalie was previously the head of private investment operations at The Investment Fund for Foundations (TIFF). Natalie has extensive knowledge of private investments, having worked directly in the analysis, due diligence and management of TIFFs private capital investments, including private equity, natural resource and real estate funds. Natalie is currently focused on manager due diligence, private investments and the management of Manghams commingled funds.

Thad S. Glowacki Director
Prior to joining Mangham Associates, Thad had over seven years experience in private equity, corporate law and investment banking. He is admitted to the New York Bar and a member of the New York State Bar Association. Thads efforts at Mangham Associates are concentrated on manager evaluation and asset class research. He focuses on public equity strategies, including traditional managers and hedge funds, as well as private equity. He also assists with the legal review of manager documents and coordinates efforts with outside counsel.

Carol A. Greene Office Manager
Carols prior experience includes business management, financial planning, marketing, and bookkeeping, as part of her 14 years as a business owner and operator in Charlottesville, Virginia. Carols responsibilities at Mangham Associates, Inc. include manager research, performance reporting, and database management.

John P. Fornecker Research Associate
Prior to joining Mangham Associates, John had experience in various fields, including finance, management, and customer service. He has studied Spanish overseas at Estudio Sampere in both Madrid and El Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain. John's responsibilities at Mangham Associates include manager evaluation and asset class research.
B.B.A. in Finance, with a minor in Spanish, Radford University.

Tracy M. Townsend Research Associate
Prior to joining Mangham Associates, Tracy worked for 18 years in the healthcare sector. Tracys current activities are focused on performance reporting, client support and manager due diligence.
Tracy is in the process of completing a B.A. in Business through Mary Baldwin College.

Ben P. Tuchyner Research Associate
Prior to joining Mangham Associates, Ben had four years of experience editing financial publications. Most recently, he served as assistant industry news desk editor at SNL Financial. Prior to that, he was an editor at Standard & Poors Money Market Directories. Bens responsibilities at Mangham Associates include performance reporting, manager due diligence and editorial duties.
B.S. in Psychology, Virginia Tech.

Charles E. Bechtel Associate
Charlie has prior experience in managing internal workflows as a traffic coordinator at an advertising agency in New York and in customer service as a retail sales manager. His responsibilities at Mangham Associates include performance reporting, manager due diligence, and certain administrative duties.
Charlie is in the process of completing a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Virginia.

Heather D. Hawkins Associate
Prior to joining Mangham Associates, Heather had over five years of work experience in trust and investments at StellarOne Wealth Management and UVEST Financial Services. Her primary responsibilities at Mangham Associates include performance reporting and manager due diligence.

Steven Jakobovic Associate
Prior to joining Mangham Associates, Steven had 10 years of financial experience, which includes hedge fund accounting, performance calculation, portfolio administration and private banking operations. His main responsibilities include performance reporting and manager due diligence.

Pennie S. Johnston Associate
Prior to joining Mangham Associates, Pennie had over twelve years work experience in purchasing in both administrative and accounting positions. Her responsibilities at Mangham Associates include performance reporting and certain administrative duties.
B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies (History, Literature, and Psychology), Southeast Missouri (Summa Cum Laude).

Jesse R. Kidd Associate
Prior to joining Mangham Associates, Jesse worked in accounting and operations for a technology consulting firm, Delta Bridge, Inc., and an endowment and foundation investment management firm, Investure, LLC. His primary responsibilities at Mangham Associates include performance reporting and fund accounting.
